Shonda Rhimes shares new spoilers on Jo and Alex

Shonda Rhimes gave us so many spoilers in an interview with EW and some include Alex and Jo as well. Here’s what she said about the future of the couple.

What’s the next step for Alex (Justin Chambers) and Jo (Camilla Luddington)?
Rhimes: I cannot tell you what’s going to happen with Alex and Jo. That feels very spoilery. I will tell you that Jo’s weird relationship with Meredith—which I find to be hilarious—the idea that Jo can’t figure out how to have a relationship [with her]. Meredith feels like she’s coming in between their relationship, but not really. I find a charm to it. You start to understand that Jo kind of idolizes Meredith, so how do you deal with the fact that your idol is your boyfriend’s best friend? That whole aspect is very charming. Alex and Meredith’s friendship strengthens. There’s a lot great stuff happening with them.

TVLine has some spoilers for us for the rest of season 11. And Camilla and Jessica are the ones who exclusively share the news.

What’s next for Grey’s Anatomy‘s Meredith/Derek after the way they left things in the fall finale? –Samantha
I have no idea — repeat, no idea—if the following relates at all to MerDer, but Jessica Capshaw and Camilla Luddington has a blast teasing for me the back half of Season 11. I can’t possibly do the beauties’ banter justice, so here’s a transcript:
JC | There’s such huge stuff coming! And it’s so top-secret we can’t even tell you who it involves.
CL | I’ve been advising wine and tissues.
JC | See, I’ve been advising tequila, but only the good stuff. I have also been saying – and I might need to patent this idea — that you need to get an iPhone-like cover for your flat-screen TV, because you’re going to be throwing stuff.
CL | At the table read, people were crying….. There’s no relaxing. There’s no calm before the storm. It’s just storm. All storm, all the time.
JC | And [Camilla]’s been in her underwear more than all of the past year.
CL | A lot of underwear. A lot of nudity. Seriously.
JC | And remember when I was there while you were in your underwear…?
CL | Teasey!
At that point I got faint, dropped my tape recorder.

Vanessa: I missed Jolex in the Grey’s premiere! Please tell me we’ll get a lot of action in the coming eps!
Going against Grey’s Anatomy couple tradition, fans can expect a lot of lighthearted fun for the duo! “We have some fun stuff coming up,” Justin Chambers teases. “I think people are going to be really excited about it.” Camilla Luddington jokes, “He only has scenes with me this season!”

For Alex and Jo, Small ‘Bumps’ – and a Big Blast from the Past

As Grey’s Anatomy opened Season 10, Alex and Jo repeatedly acted on a summer hiatus’ worth of pent-up passion, yet ultimately let cooler heads prevail in the name of saving their first time together for the right place and time.

They’re sort of juvenile” in their can’t-keep-their-hands-off-each-other-ness, Justin Chambers observed to TVLine at the ABC drama’s 200th episode party. “They’ve got a lot of growing up to do. And I think that we’ll keep playing with that because it’s fun to watch. What they do for a living [as doctors] is so serious, it’s nice to lighten up and have fun.

But if Grey’s has taught its doctors anything over the years, it may be to get while the gettin’ is good, seeing as love never flows too smoothly for too long in the halls of Seattle Grace Grey Sloan Memorial.

It’s a new relationship, and with new relationships come a lot of bumps,” Camilla Luddington noted. “It’s not easy for them.

Then again, romance has never come easily for Alex — enduring as he has over the years heartbreaks both big (Izzie!) and small (Dr. Lucy Fields).

Might Jo be the one to eclipse all others? Is this destined to be the love of Alex’s life? “It could be,” Chambers allowed, “but that’s a writers thing. As the actor, you’re thinking one thing, and then they’ll turn it around on you. We’re as surprised as the audience, at times, with what direction the story goes.”

Regardless of any superlative attached to the nascent romance, one thing is not up for debate: the on-screen chemistry between the pair’s portrayers. “You can’t intellectualize it. It’s either there or it’s not,” Chambers said. “Luckily, they do such a good job with casting — Linda Lowy has brought in so many great people on our show — and Camilla’s great. She just loves her job, and you want to work with actors that want to be there, that appreciate what they have and have fun doing it.
